Natural treats for puppies.

Natural treats for puppies.

Canine nutrition is high on the discussion ladder recently and with this, natural treats are becoming top of topic and fast becoming the number one dog treat! I mean why feed junk when you can feed caviar?

Are processed dog treats safe?

The answer is yes but you need to take precautions. It's important that you are checking ingredients in everything you feed your dog but especially the treats. Most packed dog treats use bulking agents and artifical perservatives that could be quite harmful in large doses, like 'ethoxyquin'. Ethoxyquin is a hardening agent used for making synthetic rubber and is also used as a pesticide!! Another over used ingredient in the dog treat industry is wheat. Wheat is now proven to cause allergies in a lot of dogs, so why are we still feeding wheat?

In a mine field of canine nutrition, you maybe asking 'What is safe and healthy to feed your new puppy?'

(This is our adorable litte shepsky baby Loki)

When it comes to treats for your pup then natural is best! By giving your puppy natural treats you are reducing the risks of allergies, skin issues, gum related issues, digestive problems and cancer! There are some things to consider when going choosing the natural treats, for instance not all treats are suitable for young pups due to the strength of them, and some could cause a little upset tummy if given to young. So to help you navigate this crazy mine field we have compiled a list of safe, age related treats for you.

Rabbit ears.

Puppies from 8 weeks old can enjoy a rabbit ear safely and with no guilt on your behalf. Rabbit ears are a great source of fibre and the hair acts as a natural wormer. They are also low in fat so great for sensitive tummies.
